our purpose

Form Connections

Our goal is provide our children with the opportunities they miss in a traditional school setting: a place to connect with, grow, and learn with other children. Our classes focus on subjects that are more difficult to do in a home setting– PE, book discussions, science experiments, and drama.

What We Do

Children are divided into three age groups:
1-3 grades
4-6 grades
7-12 grades

Each group attends the following classes:

Physical Education

When weather permits, PE is held outside. These include recess games and sports. Kids have opportunities to learn the rules and skills of different sports. They also get the chance to play recess games and socialize. In the case of freezing weather or thunderstorms, we hold PE indoors where we play games, yoga, and folk dancing.
During the winter term PE is exchanged for drama.

Science

This subject is a year-round class for all ages. This time is reserved for science experiments and group STEM projects. Although we don’t include readings or lectures, parents are welcome to supplement with books and other activities at home. Past activities and experiments have included: dissecting owl pellets, taking apart electronics, making catapults, and egg drop challenge.

Drama

During the winter PE is exchanged for drama. The children learn about acting, stage presence, and each age group puts on their own short play at the end of the winter term.

Rotating Classes

Each age group rotates through a special class for the term. These include social studies, cooking and art.

When we meet

Tuesdays, 9am to 12pm

We begin the day with “Gathering.” During this time kids have a chance to share good news or share a talent. We also learn a folksong and basic singing/music skills.

The kids then split into age groups and attend 3 50-minute classes.

Classes end at noon, then families eat lunch and socialize until 1pm.
